– The name originates from Greek language. It means ‘five’ (penta) ‘stamens’ (stamon), referring the the number of stamens that can be found in each flower.
– Native to eastern and south eastern United States.
– It’s often called Beard Tongue due to the hairy stamen which looks like a tongue, located in the center of the lip-shaped flowers.
