Over the years, the vine develops thick, twisted stems that become a stunning architectural feature in their own right. It’s a long-term investment — established plants can take several years to reach peak flowering — but the payoff is extraordinary. Best suited to large, sturdy structures with plenty of space to grow. Please note: Chinese wisteria is considered invasive in many eastern and midwestern states, where it can escape gardens and crowd out native plants.
