May Gardening Tips

Here are a few gardening tips to help you make the most of the beautiful late-spring weather.

Mulch plant beds

If you haven’t already, May is a great time to lay down fresh mulch in your plant beds. You can purchase mulch online and we can even deliver it right to your door. Remember to add Hi Yield Weed Preventer to your garden beds first then spread the mulch to retain water, prevent weeds from taking hold and help plants grow. It also reduces soil erosion and gives your plant beds a fresh, revitalized look.

Remember Mom

Mother’s Day falls this month, and a gorgeous basket filled with colorful spring flowers can make a wonderful gift for the mom in your life. White Oak Garden’s hanging baskets are full, boast unique plant combinations and say “I Love You” as they continue to bloom through the season. Or, a White Oak gift card gives mom the time and luxury to choose exactly what she wants. We’ll even send her a special note from you.

Plant Veggies & Start an Herb Garden

May is the time to start saving on groceries and plant your vegetable garden, so pick a nice day and get planting! May weather is finally warm enough for crops like watermelon, tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, zucchini and peppers. While you’re at it, plant up an herb garden for fresh basil, cilantrorosemary, thyme and parsley to make your summer meals extra fresh and home grown. Visit White Oak to start from seed or transplants – from compost to organic fertilizers, we’ve got you covered.
